2012 PYO Patriots Program

The Pisgah Youth Organization continues to serve the local youth in our community as it has for over 50 years. In an effort to provide a balanced sports program, PYO recently started the PYO Patriots select baseball program. In 2010, PYO fielded its first Patriots team. In 2011, PYO fielded 5 Patriot teams. In 2012, it looks as though PYO could be fielding as many as 10 Patriot teams ranging from 8-15 years old.

As an organization, PYO realizes that many of our members want their child playing select baseball. In the past, the only option was to leave PYO. With the Patriots program in place, we have been able to keep many of our skilled players within the organization. PYO's goal is simple: If you're going to play select baseball, why not do it with the organization that you already belong to? We want our skilled players and coaches to stay here!

Please consider allowing your child to tryout for a 2012 Patriot team this summer. Select/travel baseball is not for everyone. The time, talent and costs related can be considerably more than the traditional, local teams that PYO has fielded for many years. Patriot teams generally consist of 12 players (more at older age levels). Most teams will begin off-season training in early January and play a 30-50 game schedule. Playing time is not guaranteed. The Patriot teams play to win and represent the most talented players that each coach can find. The total costs vary by team, but are generally in the $600-$800/player range.
